Raising Aspirations

Got a great idea for a project to inspire your pupils about careers? We’re looking for schools and colleges to take part in a brand new funding scheme to help raise the aspirations of disadvantaged pupils. Funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, this is a brilliant opportunity for the next generation to feel inspired, work with employers and realise their #futuregoals.

Colleges, secondary schools or a consortium of secondary schools can apply for funding ranging from £7,000 to £50,000 until 21 June 2019 to achieve good careers education and strengthen engagement with employers or engagement with young role models working in priority sectors.

This will help schools and colleges to demonstrate progress towards Gatsby benchmark 5 (encounters with employers and employees) and Gatsby benchmark 6 (experiences of workplaces), which The Government’s Careers Strategy has asked all schools and colleges to achieve by September 2020.

Are you eligible?

Your secondary school or college must:

  • Be located in the Leeds City Region (Bradford, Calderdale, Craven, Harrogate, Kirklees, Leeds, Wakefield and York)
  • Be part of the Leeds City Region Enterprise Adviser Network
  • Have a nominated ‘Careers Leader’ in place
  • Not be privately funded

How to apply

Please email enterpriseadvisers@the-lep.com for an application form and full guidance notes.

Your Enterprise Coordinator will be able to support you through the application process.

Projects must commence and complete between September 2019 and July 2020.
